1. What attracted you to Fenn Wright?
I was looking for a job in accountancy that would support my training. I had already completed part of my AAT qualification, but was looking for something where I could use my accountancy skills.
2. What are your responsibilities within your role?
My role started primarily with lettings accounts, but quickly grew to include working on all client accounts (regulated under RICS Client Money Regulations and those which are not) and also office accounts within the business. My duties also include payroll, purchase ledger, debt chasing and monthly reporting to managers and partners on department performance.
Having stepped away slightly from lettings accounts, I am responsible for the accounts assistant who deals with the lettings accounts on a more day to day basis.
3. What is your proudest achievement since working at Fenn Wright?
I was given the opportunity to be a key person in the changeover of systems which the lettings department uses to manage its properties. As joint project leader, I scheduled the changeover and implemented our plan. This included testing and preparing migration details, updating all template letters and contracts into new formats and training other staff. I also worked with the new system support team to make sure it all ran smoothly.
I have also started my ACCA qualification via distance learning which has been a new experience for me as I have always studied at college before. I’m about half way through my qualification and Fenn Wright has supported me all the way through, even though my job role doesn’t require me to be Chartered.
4. What makes working at Fenn Wright different to other estate agents?
Not having any other experience working in estate agency I couldn’t compare, however, the impression I get from others who have is that Fenn Wright is a friendly business to work for. Everybody who works here is always looking to improve themselves and provide the best service to customers they can.
5. You are based at Fenn Wright’s head office in Stanway. What’s it like working there?
Yes, I am based at Tollgate, working in the accounts department which is nice as I am regularly in contact with all branches. Working here has given me the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the services we provide; not just residential sales and lettings, but also commercial, rural and survey. All the partners are approachable and really take an interest in your role within the business.
