Glemsford is approximately 6.5 miles north west of Sudbury via Long Melford. Bury St Edmunds is approximately 13 miles to the north, and Colchester 21 miles to the south east.

The site is situated in a quiet location at the end of Chequers Lane on the northern fringe of the village, overlooking open farmland and shown edged red for identification purposes only on the site plan on the page opposite.

The property comprises the grounds of a former silk mill which is understood to have occupied the site since about 1820 and extending to approximately 0.899 hectares (2.22 acres).

The property is within a conservation area.

Outline planning permission was granted on 13th March 2015 for residential development of up to ten dwellings providing a maximum of 1,000 sq m, plus the retention of part of the original mill building (reference B/14/00468/OUT/SMC).

That part of the mill building which is proposed to be retained is arranged upon ground and two upper floors, plus basement. The building is considered suitable for alternative residential and business uses, subject to planning.

An information pack containing a copy of the registered titles, planning permission and associated documents is available upon request.
