A MODERN VISION INSPIRED BY THE PAST

The allure of Wycke Court is undoubtedly the combination of modern, luxurious properties - finished to exceptionally high standards and its remarkable location, an exclusive and private setting right on the edge one of Essex's most prized and famous towns. However, whilst the collection is certainly 'of its time', the immediate charm and individuality of the development is unquestionably inspired from the past and the farm complex that originally stood on the site. From the outset of the planning process for Wycke Court a large amount of historic research and subsequent consideration was assigned to the design of the collection and it's landscaping, including the overall layout of the site, the architectural style of the homes within it and ultimately their visual impact on the area. During early design stages, heritage reports highlighted the earliest known record of buildings in the approximate location of the development, was a late 18th century map suggesting a cluster of structures - likely to have originally been outbuildings associated with Maldon Wycke - were located in the area during that period. In 1875, a far more detailed Ordnance Survey study, showcased a detailed complex of buildings in the exact area which were likely to have been a farmhouse, supporting barns, stockyards and an orchard. It was this Ordnance Survey plan that inspired the vision to sympathetically recreate the original stockyard and working farm buildings into a luxurious new selection of distinctive residential dwellings that not only breathed new life into the area - but also had a direct relationship with original footprint and historical character of the once agricultural setting.
