Lewis joined Colchester surveyors Stanfords in 1981 gaining both general practice and auctioneering experience at Colchester Cattle Market which until 1987 was managed jointly by Fenn Wright and Stanfords.

Prior to qualification in 1989 Lewis began specialising in commercial property with particular emphasis on rating appeals, commercial property valuations and Landlord and Tenant disputes. His current client profile now includes corporate bodies such as Bayer, Du Pont and Sita, whilst locally he represents a large number of well known businesses in and around Colchester.

Lewis is married to Caroline, and with their two daughters lives in Bures, enjoying cricket, golf and shooting when time permits.
