Development opportunity in Ardleigh, Essex

For those that are not familiar with the area, the village of Ardleigh is found along the A137 just to the north eastern outskirts of Colchester, and it is a very popular place to live because is has excellent village amenities. These include a primary school, village shop, post office, doctor’s surgery, village hall and fitness centre. Ardleigh also has a variety of pubs and places to eat. Most of these amenities are within easy walking distance of the development site. Those travelling into Colchester and beyond will find the A12 nearby and rail commuters have the option of travelling from either Colchester North or Manningtree mainline stations.

The site in question was previously a garden centre on Station Road. It is triangular in shape and contains a number of redundant buildings, structures and large areas of hardstanding, which are associated with its previous use. The outline planning consent allows for the demolition of the existing buildings and erection of up to 18 new, two storey homes of three, four and five bedrooms plus associated garaging or parking. 

With a long frontage onto Station Road the consent will ultimately allow for one vehicular access point, rather than the two it has today and full details of other planning conditions imposed by Tendring District Council can be found within the sales pack.

This property is being marketed by Fenn Wright’s new build and development team based in Colchester High Street and offers are invited by informal tender. Best written offers should be submitted by mid-day on Tuesday 8th July 2014. Tender forms and more information are available online.
