Fenn Wright sell landmark Sudbury office building
An iconic office building within a prominent location in Sudbury has been sold by Fenn Wright to a successful Ealing based property developer.
Sulby House is the largest purpose built office in the historic market town. The accommodation extends to almost 32,000 sq ft across four floors and comes with parking for 44 vehicles.
Lewis Chambers, FRICS, Partner at Fenn Wright said “Demand for Sulby House was high with more than 10 offers being received.
“The purchaser, with an offer in excess of the £1.75m guide price has a proven track record for delivering high quality conversions of similar buildings, and has exciting plans for the redevelopment which will offer up to 39 high specification 1 and 2 bedroomed apartments.”
2013 saw the introduction of new Permitted Development Rights (PD Rights) allowing for the conversion of offices to residential accommodation under Class O of the Town & Country Planning (Use Classes) Order, the intention being to assist the economy and stimulate development activity.
Originally developed and occupied by Sudbury based businessman Gordon Parker, who operated John Hilary Travel from Sulby House, it became occupied by local Sudbury employer Prolog, in the mid 1990’s. Following the recent relocation of their office function to Northern Road, Sudbury, Prolog concluded the sale of Sulby House at the beginning of summer 2018.
