Finding a home for a fleet of HGVs
When logistics firm A2B-online started looking for a new site, our experts were there to help.
We recently negotiated the acquisition of a site for a new lorry park and UK office at Orwell Crossing, Nacton, for growing logistics company, A2B-online. Built adjacent to an existing commercial truck stop, the new lorry park is conveniently located next to the A14 and close to Felixstowe port, where many of its consignments pass through.
With its lorries historically parked in various locations around Felixstowe, A2B-online had been looking for a new centralised base for over a year before they found the new site, which now provides 50 HGV parking spaces. Many other locations were previously considered but ultimately discounted. Orwell Crossing proved to fit all the criteria, providing the ideal solution. Alistair Mitchell, partner at Fenn Wright, represented A2B-online in negotiating the acquisition of the site, which the company moved to earlier this month.
Rinus Scheijde, Managing Director of A2B-online, comments: “Fenn Wright’s advice was invaluable in guaranteeing we entered the deal on the best commercial footing. It was a two-stage process as we first needed to purchase the land and then engage a developer to build the park and office space we required. Fenn Wright not only ensured the transaction took place quickly and efficiently with the right terms in place, but they also recommended key contacts to help design and create our new base.”
When asked why these new premises are so important for A2B-online, Rinus explained: “Over the last two years, our business has grown from 10 to 46 trucks and we plan to continue expanding at 10% per year for the next five years. The new base at Orwell Crossing will play an important role in our future expansion as it will allow us more control over our work by keeping our trucks all parked in one place. While we expect the lorry park will be full to capacity within the next year, the office space at Orwell Crossing is future-proofed as it has been designed and built off-site in modular form, which means we can quickly add another level as and when we outgrow the existing space.”
