New homes: Wycke Court, Maldon, Essex
The project is expected to help enhance the appeal of living in Maldon even further and coincides with a number of plans announced earlier this year to regenerate the town which include a leisure quarter, increased business and retail space as well as further parking, restaurant and bar facilities.
The properties are being built by Chelmsford City Developments, who have designed the development to recreate the setting of an original stockyard and working farm buildings. This collection of seven beautifully crafted 4 and 5 bedroom homes represent the farmhouses, barns and orchard that once sat on the site.
Designed to look like they have been gently evolving for over a century, four properties are available as part of the Phase One release – The Wycke Farmhouse, The Hay Barn, The Brew House and The Forge. Prices range between £600,000 and £1million. Every home includes traditionally constructed exterior walls, dry lined interior walls for high thermal efficiency, alongside high security windows and doors and stylish kitchen and bathrooms. The development itself retains its tree lined boundaries along with a central greensward with tree planting allowing the environment and its local wildlife to continue to flourish.
The Hay Barn, Maldon – £850,000
The three remaining properties will be released in Phase Two this autumn. Wycke Court is due for completion in March 2017.
Steve Baker at Fenn Wright’s development and new homes commented: “Wycke Court is somewhat of a rarity for the new build sector. Usually, developments consist of homes in the style of modern town houses, apartment blocks, large detached mansions and so on. This project is basically a new build farm setting — it is certainly a first in my knowledge. The first phase at Wycke Court has been extremely popular since we launched in May with both local and London buyers seeking the country lifestyle with modern day living in mind.”
Maldon is an historic town on the Blackwater estuary that is well-known for its famous salt. It has a well-documented maritime past and is home to beautiful open spaces such as Promenade Park on the riverside. The town holds a mid-week market and has thriving restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs. Maldon has a marina and a reputable country club nearby for golf enthusiasts as well as a number of excellent primary and secondary schools nearby. Furthermore, Maldon is just 6 miles from the A12 and 22 miles from the M25, and not far from Chelmsford railway station with a regular mainline service to London Liverpool Street.
