The Fenn Wright Charity Walk takes place this month

We were pleased to announce in April that our chosen Charity of the Year for 2025 is the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation, who support teenagers and young adults with cancer. As part of our fundraising efforts, a team of 42 members of staff and friends from our mortgage partners, Fitch & Fitch, will be participating in a 25 mile sponsored walk on Thursday 17th July.
The route will start from our Sudbury office and continue through the beautiful Suffolk and Essex countryside, covering the Stour Valley, St Edmundsbury and Essex Way paths, finishing at our office in Manningtree. East of England Co-op are kindly donating lunch for our team who will be enjoying some tasty treats when they reach Nayland.
Founded in 2014 in Tom’s memory, the Foundation supports people aged 13-24 and their families, and has raised £1.9m to date. A cancer diagnosis in the family can cost on average £750 per month in lost income and increased expenditure, often with one parent having to give up work or take unpaid leave to become a full-time carer. There are also increased travel and household costs, so suddenly paying the bills can become a major concern when all energy should be placed into caring for the young person facing cancer.
So far, money raised by the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation has created 8 rooms and age-appropriate spaces across the country and £500,000 has been spent on funding a research project looking into targeted treatments for teenage cancers.
Miranda Sandison, Managing Partner commented “The Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation was voted for by our staff and is a worthy cause that I am pleased Fenn Wright can support. I would like to wish those taking part in our charity walk the best of luck and thank Nigel Berry and Donald Barber for planning and testing the route, and Roseanna Seaton for her assistance in organising the event. I am hoping the temperature will have subsided somewhat by next Thursday and I look forward to seeing the team at the finish line.”
