Beautiful new beach huts available in Felixstowe

31 Jul 24

Seashore Village comprises 27 brightly coloured traditional timber beach huts set around a central fish-shaped green on Felixstowe’s South Seafront, a short walk from the pier.

Part of a programme of regeneration by East Suffolk Council, the beach huts are available on long leases of up to 20 years and include access to facilities with fresh water and public conveniences. There are also five accessible beach chalets available for short term hire (email [email protected]).

The first beach hut was recorded in Bournemouth in 1909 and is celebrated with a blue plaque.  These took the place of wheeled huts which were used from as early as the 1730’s but as railway advancement made beach trips more accessible, they were cumbersome and no longer a practical solution.

There are thought to be over 20,000 beach huts in the UK today, most of which are privately owned.  Synonymous with the British seaside, they were designed to protect the modesty of bathers and famous owners are said to include Suggs from Madness, in Whitstable, and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones in West Sussex.

For the fifth consecutive year, Felixstowe’s beaches have been named some of the best in the country, being awarded the 2024 Blue Flag and Seaside Award.  This nationally recognised accolade guarantees the highest standards of quality, safety and cleanliness, and you can regularly find groups off open-water swimming enthusiasts gathering on the shoreline.

Measuring 8ft x 7ft, the beach huts at Seashore Village are in accessible landscaped grounds with prices starting from £22,000 inc. VAT.  We are holding two open events at Seashore Village on 10th and 31st August from 11am – 2pm.  To arrange a viewing please contact our team in Felixstowe on 01394 548700 or find out more below:
