Today, the village is centred around this green and has a pub – the 17th century Cock Inn, a community shop and post office, and a playing field with village hall.

Larger town facilities can be found at nearby Hadleigh, Sudbury, Colchester or Ipswich. For the commuter, both Colchester and Manningtree provide mainline rail links to London’s Liverpool Street, each are about 11 miles away.
