Fenn Wright Appoints New Head of Commercial Division
We are delighted to announce that John Birchall MRICS, Partner at Fenn Wright, has been appointed Head of Commercial. The role will see John manage our award-winning Commercial Agency team, Building Surveyors, Property Management and Valuation teams throughout Essex and Suffolk.
John commented “I am really pleased to share that I have recently stepped into the role of Head of Commercial at Fenn Wright, and it genuinely feels like a great moment to be doing so. Fenn Wright has an incredible history – I sat with our Managing Partner, Miranda Sandison, and she passed me the ‘Index of Valuation’ which recorded Fenn Wright valuation work dating back to 1818. This stands as an interesting reminder of the firm’s long‑standing reputation for professionalism, consistency, and trust. We’ve seen world wars, the Great Depression, and we are slightly older than America (or at least the signing of the Declaration of Independence). Whist the way we work, the markets we operate in, and the technology we use have all changed, those core values haven’t – and I see that legacy as something to build on, not move away from.”
Fenn Wright recently opened a 12th branch in Basildon, meaning this is an exciting time for our Commercial division. Our Agency team have developed a reputation as market leaders and our Building Consultancy team are busy with a range of impressive projects, including some high-profile work in London. Our Valuation team continues to provide unparalleled skills to a broad range of clients and our Commercial Property Management team is growing, with strong demand in landlord and tenant matters.
John continued “My focus as Head of Commercial is to bring all of that together – supporting our team, encouraging collaboration across divisions, and making sure we continue to provide our clients with clear, practical, and commercially focused advice.
We have got an exceptionally strong team with a wide skill set, and I’m particularly proud of the work that goes into mentoring and developing the next generation of surveyors alongside our senior professionals.
Looking ahead, I’m optimistic about what’s to come, despite macro market uncertainty. We have a business with strong roots, great people, and a forward‑thinking approach, and that puts us in a strong position for the future.”
