Luxury home makes entertaining easy in Cold Norton

With almost 4,000 square feet of luxury accommodation, this wonderful contemporary home features everything you need for entertaining. Highlights include underfloor heating, wireless Bose sound system across the home and LED mood lighting in the main reception rooms.
Accountant, Mr Head and full-time mum of three, Miss Harris bought this striking house three years ago and have made numerous improvements to the property. Dee Harris tells us more: “We’ve had three amazing years in this house. We had it renovated to a very high-spec because we believed it would be our forever home. We installed lots of the latest gadgets throughout, like Bose speakers and digital lighting which can all be used through an iPad, as well as finger print door entry, so that you never get locked out by forgetting keys!
“However, the house and grounds still have lots of potential. We’ve just had planning approved for a very large swimming pool with glass dome cover and a large log cabin. The only reason we’re moving is that it’s my partner’s dream to build a house. We’ve renovated two properties now and think we’re ready to do one more move and one more build. We plan on staying local though, as we have fallen in love with the village and people; and the space around us.”
Arranged over two levels and with clean, neutral décor throughout, the house includes five bedrooms, a luxury family bathroom and a study, which could potentially be used as a sixth bedroom. With an en-suite and walk-in dressing room, the master bedroom exudes luxury, while three of the other bedrooms also have en-suite facilities.
According to Miss Harris, it is the entertaining space downstairs – featuring a grand reception hall, bespoke kitchen, utility and cloakroom – that really give this house the ‘wow’ factor.
“There are many things I love about this house. The bar and spacious kitchen are among my favourite parts. The light, open kitchen has the sun beaming through all day long and the lounge is big yet cosy enough to sit and watch a film on the cinema screen.”

The outside space is also an impressive feature of the house. There are two detached double garages and a stable block with an adjoining workshop. The gardens have been neatly landscaped to include formal areas of lawn, fenced paddock, children’s play area and a vast tiered easterly facing terrace extending the width of the house.
Miss Harris adds: “As a family, we have most enjoyed the outdoor space! In particular, the two acres allow us to have great parties and barbeques in the summer. The house is perfect for entertaining, with a lovely bar that leads into the garden through bi-folding doors.”
Taken with the property the moment they saw it, Mr Head and Miss Harris speak equally fondly of the home’s surroundings:
“We fell in love with this house straight away. The drive here through the country roads and the space around the house really won us over. Also, it has everything you need within a ten minute drive with Tesco, Aldi, Asda, and a new BP garage nearby.”
Miss Harris continues: “Cold Norton has been the friendliest place we’ve ever lived and we have lived in lots of places! We were welcomed to the village by everyone and now walk in to the local pub and it’s as though we’re all family. I have found Cold Norton to be perfect for me as it’s away from the hustle and bustle but also easy to get to everything. I will also miss having just a five minute walk to Cold Norton Primary, which is an ‘Outstanding’ school.”
The house is within three miles of North Fambridge train station, which provides a frequent service to London Liverpool Street in under an hour. There are also good links to the excellent grammar schools in Chelmsford and Colchester, as well as the maritime towns of Maldon and Burnham.
