More buyers than sellers?

As the first month of 2016 draws to an end, Alan Williams, Fenn Wright’s managing partner and head of the residential sales teams offers these brief insights about what’s happening in the local property market:
“This year started with a bang for all our branches. Straight after the Christmas break we got a lot of new instructions and many of these were ‘new to the market’ properties, which is always nice. And this activity was a welcome reversal of the diminishing supply we’d seen in December.
“For the first two weeks of January, however, viewing numbers were a little subdued which created an excellent opportunity for those buyers who were quick out of the blocks to see the new properties first. I’ve checked back against the same period last year and the first two weeks were almost identical, in that there were many new instructions and a lack of buyers.
“All that changed in the second half of January 2015 though, and that pattern has been repeated in 2016. Buyers have come out in their droves toward the end of January to register for early bird alerts, view properties and agree sales.
“We’re busy. And the market is buoyant which bodes well for a spring market that will move buyers and sellers along nicely.”
