New in Duke Street, Chelmsford
The new design concept was developed by the award-winning creative director Michael Rance, from Puur and was first rolled out at our shop in Kesgrave, near Ipswich, earlier this year. The design does away with the old-style office which was, at best, uninspiring and found by many to be rather intimidating and off-putting. Instead, visitors are now greeted with a series of light and airy spaces, attractive showcases and nests of easy chairs around tables. Coffee is on offer to accompany a browse through property particulars, and agents are on hand when required – but their desks and electronic equipment are tucked away out of sight. The aim, which is proving highly successful in Suffolk, is to provide a more relaxed environment condusive to conversation.
Fenn Wright moved into Chelmsford around 20 years ago, most recently with offices in New London Road. Duke Street is a more central location allowing for further expansion of all departments; Residential Sales headed by Associate Partner Karl Manning, Lettings led by Associate Partner Jon Barker and Commercial and Development in the care of the firm’s Senior Partner Roger Hayward. There are currently 11 members of staff, but this expected to grow.
While Residential Sales and Lettings occupy the ground floor of the three-storey building, where there is also a meeting room, the Commercial and Development department are located on the first floor, with staff facilities and storerooms at the top.
Karl Manning outlined Fenn Wright’s ethos: “We are a broad-based and multi-discipline group, covering all types of property from first time buys and family homes through to high-end houses and specialist equestrian properties handled by our Signature team.
“In line with most parts of the South East, the strength of the Chelmsford property market continues to grow not only because we have seen a marked return of confidence in recent months, but because the city itself is physically growing. John Lewis, opening next year, will be the flagship store in the Bond Street shopping development, which will provide an enormous boost to Chelmsford as a retail destination with a matching hike for property values, we believe.
“In anticipation of continuing growth, we are building on our success in New London Road and expanding to a more central location with ultra-modern premises and an equally modern take on dealing with property matters. We’re looking forward to welcoming new and returning clients who come in to give it a try.”
The next Fenn Wight office to be given the new look will be 1 Buttermarket, Ipswich and work is already underway.
