Martin started his career as a Rural Chartered Surveyor in mid-Wales at Woosnam & Tyler and qualified as ARICS in 1985. He subsequently moved to Strutt & Parker in Ipswich in 1986 and was responsible for the management of the Helmingham and Orwell Park Estates in Suffolk becoming an Associate Partner.

In 1991 Martin set up his own business Martin Freeman & Co and qualified FRICS in 1995.  Martin Freeman & Co was merged into Fenn Wright in 1998 when Martin became a Partner and Head of the Rural Division from 1999 to 2020.

Martin set up what is now Fenn Wright Water and Leisure initially specialising in the sale and valuation of fisheries and launched fisheries4sale.com in 2003, the only specialist fishery and water related property website in the country.  Martin has visited over 2,000 properties with water and is an expert in all aspects of sales, valuations, professional, planning and expert witness work and has grown this sector of Fenn Wright’s Water and Leisure business year on year.

Martin retired from the Partnership in October 2020 to become a Consultant to the Rural Division and continues to advise clients and grow the Water and Leisure side of the business.
