The subdued office market, combined with the political desire to promote the delivery of new homes throughout the UK, led to the government introducing new rules at the end of May through an amendment to the General Permitted Development Order 1995 which, amongst other things, allows for the change of use of offices to residential without the need to obtain planning permission.
