There are local shopping facilities available in nearby Hatfield Peverel, a number of restaurants and a railway station offering a service into London Liverpool Street station. Witham offers a more regular fast train service.
Chelmsford, about 11 miles to the west, offers a comprehensive range of shopping, educational and leisure amenities and fast trains to Liverpool Street. Local schools include Maldon Court Prep School, Elm Green and Heathcote, in Little Baddow and Danbury respectively and New Hall. Further afield is Felsted and the excellent grammar schools in Chelmsford and Colchester, served by the schools bus services.
